Senior Research Scientist

Job Description:

GS-Tek is seeking a self-motivated, goal oriented and learning toward innovation scientist to lead product development projects in High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas Chromatography (GC) separations, and to write proposal to apply for Federal research grants. This position is based at our facility located in Newark, Delaware.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop new chromatographic media for small molecules separation and purification based on customer needs
Identify and pursue annual  federal funding opportunities such as SBIR/STTR, NSF,DOE,DOE, with innovations and GS-Tek’s chromatography strengths
Work with customers, sales & marketing team to explore market opportunities and to propose product development plans
Small scale synthesis, polymerization and chromatography analysis with Good Lab Practices including lab safety and experiment documentations
Write product brochures and application notes, present to customers
Required Qualifications:

Master degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or biochemistry with 5 years of laboratory/research experiences
Hands-on experiences of synthesis and polymerizations, both inorganic and organic molecules
Familiarity with SBIR grants and applications.
Working knowledge of chromatography, both GC and HPLC GC/HPLC
Knowledge of characterization and purification of small molecules
Good skills of technical writing and presentations
Organizing, observing, discovering and analyzing
Adapt to a small group working environment with lead attitude and work independence
Lab safety training and practices
Desired Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, Physics, or Engineering  with up to 2 years of research laboratory experiences
2-5 years working experiences of chromatography or development of separation media
Strong organic or polymer synthesis background
Willing to learn and innovate
Experience with silica chemistry and surface modification is preferred
Engineering design and prototyping development is also preferred
Experience to prepare proposal, be awarded and managing Federal grants to completion is plus
Experience of project lifecycle management from concept, development to product manufacturing and marketing is plus

Analytical Instrument Service Technician

Key Responsibilities:

Chromatography instrument services including maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, both in house and in customer sites
Solution base turn-key analyzer assembling and test per test standard such ASTM, UOP, EPA, USP
Chromatography instrument installation, and customer training at customer site
Software/firmware update, both instrument control and data acquisition
Service manual preparation and documentations
Required Qualifications:

B.S/B.A. in Chemistry, engineering or biology with 0-3 years of experience
Knowledge of analytical chemistry, electronics, control or mechanical engineering
Working knowledge of windows, offices,  web, computer setup and software installations
Good team player and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate abilities of quick learn under coaching
Demonstrate hand-on skill and independent work ability
Demonstrate abilities of troubleshooting and problem solving
Ability to travel both domestic and international
Good technical writing skill
Desired Qualifications:

M.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical engineering
2-5 years direct GC/HPLC Chromatography instrument experience
Field service experience
Knowledge of instrument software such as Openlab CDS chemstation, lab solution or empower
Location:

Newark/ Delaware, and customer sites, 30-50% domestic and international travels
