Using consumables and supplies of the correct quality is a crucial part of producing reliable chromatography analysis results. Over the years, consumables and supplies parts have evolved and changed, while at the same time end users may experience document issues such as incomplete records, errors, or carry-over mistakes. The evolution of both documentation and the products themselves can make it more difficult to select the right consumables or replace existing instrument parts.
GS-Tek offers a wide range of consumables used for chromatography instruments and sample preparation. GS-Tek carefully selects these consumables based both on our expertise and the reputation of manufacturers in order ensure the peace of mind of our chromatography customers.
Instrument specific supplies
Common GC instrument-specific supplies include column ferrules, liners for sample gasification, inlet seals (septa and metal seal), jets/nuts, micro-liter syringes and sample vials. Among these, liners are the most important component affecting chromatography results. Properly selecting microliter syringes will also help produce consistent results. Malfunctions of inlet septa and jets are the root cause of many issues with chromatography accuracy and reliability.
Ferrules
Ferrules are typically used in the hot sealing of columns, inlets and detectors, and they can also be used for gas connections. Ferrules are made of graphite, Vespel™, metal and PTFE materials. Ferrule dimensions are outside diameter (OD), internal diameter (ID), and length. V/G ferrules are often used for low bleed need application such as GC-MSD. To ensure seal reliability, V/G ferrules are single-use components. Graphite ferrules are used for a general GC application and can be reused a small number of times. Vespel ferrules are used for hard sealing, and PFTE are used for general connection at low temperatures (below 150℃).
GC inlet septa
Silicone-based septa are typically used for both GC inlet seals and sample introduction. They have a centered hole for guiding the syringe needle. Over the course of repeated needle punctuation, septa exhibit different degrees of leakage, limiting their usable lifespan. Quality and performance of septa directly affect application results (reliability and accuracy), column lifetime and instrument condition. Best practice requires checking and changing septa as often as needed.
GC Inlet liners
Glass-made GC inlet liners provide chambers sample vaporizing and sample introduction into the column. Liners are the centerpieces of the inlet system and have a direct impact on application reliability and accuracy. It is recommended to change these liners often, to minimize the accumulation of carry-over contaminates inside them. Such accumulation can reduce peak height, cause peak tailing or generate ghost peaks.
GC inlet seals
Our gold seals are made with a metal injection molding process that provides a consistent, smooth surface, free from ridges or grooves from a machining process. The seals are then polished and gold-plated for a smooth surface. For convenience, the gold seals are carefully packaged with inlet seal washers.
Syringes
GS-Tek offers a broad range of microliter syringes for several autosampler brands. Please use our syringe filter to quickly find the appropriate syringe for your needs. Manual syringes can be used for Shimadzu autosampler, and manual injections for gas samples and HPLC.
General supplies for Gas Connection
In addition of instrumental suppliers, we also offer general supplies for gas connection, which plays a significant role in instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Gas chromatographs contain a large number and variety of fittings, tubing, and connections, all of which must be properly assembled, tightened, and leak-free if the system is to perform at its best.
Gas Purifiers
We offer Gas purifier which can help deliver high purity gas to your analytical instruments, to extend column lifetime and reduce instrument downtime. The purifier can work with the GC, GC/MS and any other analytical instrument using carrier gas.
Inline filter
We offer inline gas filter that can remove common contaminates such as oxygen, moisture, and hydrocarbons from GC carrier and detector gases. Our inline gas filters are available in different sizes and configurations.
Gas Valves
Gas sampling valves are used to sample gases in constantly flowing streams. In GC area, gas valves are frequently used to enable multidimensional GC techniques such as Deans switching, backflush or GC x GC. For more challenging valve applications, such as natural gas or transformer oil gas analysis, we can also offer preconfigured analyzers with valve sampling to customers.
Tubing
GS-Tek offers a variety of pre-cleaned tubing for gas line connections. Tubing materials are aluminum, Fused Slica, 304SS, Ni, copper, Al, stainless steel and PTFE.
Fitting
Fittings can provide reliable high-pressure sealing. We use Swagelok fittings with front and back ferrules – which give best sealing performance – throughout all our GC systems. We also provide customers fitting in different sizes and materials.
